The firm is not obligated to maintain a secondary market in CDs and therefore cannot provide assurance that an investor will be able to sell a CD prior to maturity. The resale price in such a transaction may be less than the principal amount invested. Also, the price paid for any CD purchased in the secondary market will include a mark-up.
